Elon Musk has extended an olive branch to former President Donald Trump, signaling a dramatic shift in their previously strained relationship. During a tech summit in Austin on Tuesday, Musk praised Trump’s economic leadership and expressed interest in working with his campaign ahead of the 2024 election.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO stated, “I don’t agree with everything he says, but Trump’s economic policies boosted innovation and business confidence. I respect that.” Musk also noted that under Trump, “American manufacturing had a clear purpose.”
Trump responded positively, telling reporters, “Elon is a smart man. He sees what’s happening to the country, and I’m glad he’s speaking truth again.”
This move follows years of tension between the two figures, including Musk’s public exit from Trump’s business advisory council in 2017. But shifting political winds—and growing regulatory pressure from the Biden administration—appear to have prompted Musk to reconsider.
Political analysts view the development as strategic. Musk has a massive following and significant influence in both tech and finance. Trump’s team sees the renewed relationship as a potential boost to his appeal among younger voters and entrepreneurs.
As the 2024 election approaches, the alliance between Trump and Musk could reshape the political narrative—blending tech power with populist momentum.
