Russia launched a deadly drone strike on a residential building in Odesa, killing two civilians and injuring at least 14 others, including children. The strike occurred in the early hours of the morning, sending residents into panic as explosions echoed through the city.
Emergency teams arrived immediately and began rescuing people trapped under rubble. Firefighters extinguished flames as medics treated the injured on-site. Witnesses reported shattered windows, crumbling walls, and thick smoke covering the area.
Ukrainian officials condemned the attack and called it a violation of international humanitarian law. “They targeted innocent families while they slept,” said a Ukrainian regional leader. “This is not war. This is terrorism.”
The Ukrainian air force claimed it intercepted several drones but confirmed that at least one managed to breach the defense and strike the civilian zone. Rescue teams evacuated nearby buildings to prevent further casualties.
Parents cried out for their children while neighbors rushed to help each other. One resident said, “We heard the boom, then everything shook. I grabbed my kids and ran.”
This attack adds to the growing toll of civilian suffering in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Ukraine’s President promised retaliation and urged allies to strengthen air defense support. As Odesa mourns, the world watches in grief and anger.
